Shirley Ann McElroy

Shirley Ann McElroy, 66, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 4:11 pm at the Fondren building of Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Shirley was born Sunday, October 20, 1946, in Highland, Illinois to Charles Fulton and Catherine Lucille Dortch, both of whom precede her in death. Shirley is also preceded in death by her brother Charles Dortch; sisters Connie Schlorff, and Donna McElroy.

Shirley was an active member of the community volunteering for many organizations and clubs including the Red Cross and the Pregnancy Assistance Center, but her life's passion was sharing Jesus with everyone she met and serving through many church ministries. She was a woman of prayer with a servant's heart.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 45 years Rolland McElroy; children Toni Rosenbaum, Linda Irvine and husband Michael, Jerri Crofts and Fred Baker, Ronald McElroy and wife Andrea; brother Danny Dortch; sister Barbara Powell; grandchildren Lauren, Brandon, Matthew, Abby, Ben, Dylan, Suzy, Lacee, Heath, Rusty, Susana, Ian; great-grandchildren Teegan and Kenlee; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

Visitation for Shirley will be held Sunday, January 6, 2013,1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Cross Community Church. Service for Shirley will commence at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow in the McElroy Family Cemetery, Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10 am. The family cemetery is located at 3625 Woodpeckers Grove, Cleveland, TX 77328. All services were handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.
