He is survived by his children, Carl Wayne Hopson and his wife Charlie, and Paul Burton Hopson and his wife Jo Quist-Hopson, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. Carl also embraced his role as a stepfather to Carl Wayne Crawford and his wife Lori Hoffman Crawford, further enriching the tapestry of his family.

He was a comforting presence in the lives of his siblings, including his brother Kenneth Hopson and sister Velma Kendricks. As a proud grandfather, Carl delighted in the lives of his grandchildren—Richard Paul Hopson and his wife Christi, Josh Perez, and Michael Perez.
