Charles Kenneth Hayden, 73, of Splendora, and a beloved resident of Montgomery County passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013 in New Caney, Texas, after a long hard fought battle with his health. He was born on Thursday, November 21, 1940 in Splendora, Texas to Everitt Eugene Hayden and Vera (Cummins) Hayden, both of whom have preceded him in death. Charles was also preceded in death by his brothers, James David Hayden and Lenon Wayne Hayden; Left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife of 54 years Jerry Hayden; daughters, Cheryl Guion and husband Brad of Rockport, Tx., Toby Herzog and husband Eric of Alvin, Tx; son, Constable Kenneth "Rowdy" Hayden and wife Jennifer of Splendora, TX; 8 beautiful grandchildren, Jerry Guion, Brandy Sparks, Shanna Redwine, Eric Herzog Jr. Amanda Herzog, Brandon Hayden, Jacob Hayden and Joshua Hayden; 4 wonderful great grandchildren, Alexis Guion, Katelyn Guion, Elly Sparks and Hunter Sparks; brother, Bonnell Hayden and wife Carolyn of Splendora, Tx; sister, Vera Tolbert and husband Ronnie of Splendora, Tx; along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that you give to the Constable Charles Hayden Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 529 Splendora, Texas 77372. We will all remember Charles Hayden for his long and illustrious career in law enforcement, spanning from 1962 to 2009. A total of 42 years given to a community that he loved and a community that loved him back. Charles first became a civil servant in 1959, working as a dispatcher. In 1967 he began his career in law enforcement when he was elected Justice of the Peace, he was then elected constable and in 1991 he was elected commissioner, he held that office until 1995 when he returned to the constable office, he so dearly loved. Constable Charles Hayden, lived by the words of Winston Churchill "Never, Never, Never Quit". Charles Hayden never quit fighting his health issues and he never quit giving to his community, he was a wonderful man who cherished his family and his friends with the same tenacity that he served his constitutes. Charles Kenneth Hayden has left a void in our hearts and lives that will never be filled. Visitation for Charles will be held at Neal Funeral Home on Monday December 30, 2013 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Charles will be on Tuesday December 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Splendora City Cemetery, officiating services will be Judge James Metts.
