Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Dora O'Briant; children, Clark and wife Priscilla O'Briant, LaDawn and husband Darrell Lancto, Andra and husband Bubba Nethery, Scottie and wife Jennifer O'Briant; adopted daughter, Sheralyn Maddux; brothers, Murlyn and wife Judy O'Briant, Leonard and wife Kathern O'Briant; sisters, Joyce Weaver, Billie Ruth Woolridge; grandchildren, Marcie, Angie, Robert, Blake, J. Gable O'Briant was a loving husband, father and a Christian man. He grew up in Seadrift, Texas. He worked on his dad's shrimp boat, as a young boy. Gable married the love of his life, Dora Sikes, and they had four children. Gable served in the arm forces. He was what you would call a "Jack" of all trades. Gable could restore cars from the engine, to the paint. He loved drag racing and fast cars. His expertise included carpentry, electrical, concrete, industrial paint, and many other facets of construction and work. Gable started and owned an air condition company called 'American Heating and Air', until he retired. He loved to fish, the outdoors, and loved to travel. He was the kindest man, but, he was rough around the edges.
Gable and Dora were always together. You never saw one without the other. Their love and respect for each other, was a testament of how much they enjoyed one another's company. Our 'special dad' instilled strong work ethics and values into his children, for a productive future of success and providers for their families. This 'special man' also instilled high morals, values, and strong character. Gable will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
