Corey was born November 7, 1976 to Brenda K. Bass and Jewel Edward Poole in Houston, Texas. He went to school in Cleveland, Tx from elementary to high school. Corey loved sports as a child and he dreamed of playing in the NBA like Michael Jordan. In his own words, “ Corey Bass was a winner.” Corey was very talented in sports including track and field, basketball, and football. He was so talented, as a football player he was put on the varsity team as a freshman. Unfortunately, out one night with some friends he was in a car accident and suffered injuries to his neck and spine and it paralyzed him. Before the accident he fathered two sons, Corey Jr. and Xavier, who later gave him beautiful grandchildren, Jaccorion, Zakieria, Izayah, Elijah, Malachi, and Jaxson, whom he loved dearly.
Corey was a survivor and a fighter, and he didn’t allow his situation to keep him down. He went on to thrive and be successful in life. Corey lived life to the fullest. He was one of a kind, loved hard in relationships, helped anyone he could, and was a real people person. He liked enjoying himself, having fun and having people around him and people liked being around him. He had a smile that could lighten a room and lots of people gravitated to him. He was an awesome person that impacted a lot of lives. Corey was a smart individual, a mastermind if you will. He had his challenges and struggles to overcome in his life like everyone else, but over all he had a big heart. Corey was a giver and he even donated his organs, a 12 year old girl was awarded his kidney. He was a great father and grandfather. Corey did establish a relationship with God and believed in Jesus Christ. He loved worship music and praising God. He even shared God with others. So we know we will see him again, but for now he will enjoy Heaven with other saints and we will see him later.
