Curtis Ross McKinney, 96, of The Woodlands, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born on Wednesday, November 06, 1918 in Louisville, Mississippi to Charlie Ross McKinney and Doskey (Duncan) McKinney, both of whom have preceded him in death. Curtis was also preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Goode and Ruby Middleton; Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 47 years Lanis McKinney; sons, Curtis R McKinney Jr, Ross McKinney and Diane Colvard; daughters, Diane McKinney, and Andrea Herr; sister, Mary Cannon; his one and only grandson, Duncan Herr; along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends. Visitation for Curtis will be held at Neal Funeral Home, 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, TX , Sunday November 16, 2014 2-4 pm, a memorial service will be held Monday November 17, 2014 at Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr, The Woodlands, TX at 2:00 pm. Burial for Curtis will be Tuesday November 18, 2014 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio TX at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials in Curtis Ross McKinney name be made to Friends of Scouting, Sam Houston Area Council, c/o Kevin Ready, 2225 North Loop West, Houston, Texas 77008.
