Donald Richard "Don" Bossley, born on October 21, 1939, in Jennings, Louisiana, passed into the arms of Jesus on October 8, 2024, peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Cleveland, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Don was a 1958 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown and attended Lee College. He enjoyed monthly luncheons with his fellow REL graduates that served as reunions for his long-term friends.
Don was the loving husband of Nadean Bossley, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. He was a devoted father to his children, Deborah Bossley and Donald Marcus "Marc" Bossley, always ready to take them on camping trips and road trips to Six Flags and Garner State Park with friends. His commitment to his family knew no bounds; he cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was coaching little league when Marc was younger or sharing quiet times fishing or enjoying the great outdoors. In retirement he and his wife Nadean took many trips as work campers visiting California, Colorado, Wyoming, Tennessee and Hawaii to celebrate events with their kids and grandkids.
Donald's enthusiastic spirit found expression in his many hobbies. He spent the last 10 years of his life volunteering and playing dominos at the Cleveland Senior Citizens Center and the Tuesday 42 Club in Kingwood. He loved camping, deer hunting, and fishing which allowed him to connect with nature and spend quality time with family and friends. His mechanical inclination shone through when he started working on cars during high school and continued to show his kids how to fix the cars they were driving when they were in high school. These activities were not just pastimes; they were part of his vibrant character and fostered deep connections with those around him.
Don retired from Cleveland Independent School District as Maintenace Director in 2005 and also worked for New Caney ISD, Mobay Chemical and United States Steel. A proud lifetime member and Master Mason at the Grand Lodge of Texas Cedar Bayou No. 321 in Baytown, Donald was actively involved with his brotherhood and community creating an impact that will be felt for years to come. He owned and operated several businesses including Personal Touch Laundry Mat in Cleveland, demonstrating a tenacity and work ethic that inspired all who knew him. He was also a member of the First Methodist Church in Cleveland where he was a faithful servant to his Lord.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Nadean; his children, Deborah Bossley of Cleveland Texas and Marc Bossley of Van Nuys, California; his grandchildren, Houston Lowry of Burbank California, Andrew Lowry of Milwaukee Wisconsen, Thomas Lowry of Rolla Missouri , Max Bossley, and Maggie Bossley of Van Nuyes California; as well as his siblings, James Bossley and wife Jerri, and Sandra Hamilton and husband Don. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jimmy Lee "JL" Towsend and wife Susan; niece, Christina Burke and husband Jeff; and great niece, Alex Burke. With a host of other family members and friends, his legacy will live on through the stories they will share in his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon A. Bossley and Mabel Duhon Bossley; his brother, Paul Bossley; and nephew, Paul Vincent Cavaretta. Each of these loved ones played a role in shaping the man he became, and he will be missed deeply.
