Elmer Lee Elam

On June 2, 1931, Elmer Lee Busby was born to Willie Mae Hutchinson and Elmer Willie Busby in Fostoria, Texas. Her early education was in Pineland, Texas. Elmer Lee later attended Phyliss Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas where she met and married Dennis Fuller to this union was born a daughter, Glenda Elaine Fuller. Elmer Lee later married Phillip Comeaux, Sr to this union were born Gloria Denise, Phillip Jr., Tony Ferlando and Gail Yvonne. She later met and married Jammie Lee Elam of 52 years and to this union was born a son, Jerry O'Neil Elam.
Elmer Lee grew up in church and was introduced to Christ at an early age. She joined and became a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas under the leadership of Rev. F.C. Holiday, Pastor. She went on to later join Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, Houston, Texas under the leadership of Rev. Samuel L. Smith, Pastor. Elmer Lee worshipped on her favorite Sunday, the Second Sunday of every months because she loved to hear the Male Chorus.
Elmer Lee leaves to cherish her memory her husband (Jammie Elam); daughters, Glenda Smith (Samuel), Gail Wyatt (Floyd) and her sons, Phillip Comeaux, Tony Comeaux, Jerry Elam and son-in-law, Calvin McGowen. Elmer Lee was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Gloria McGowen. Elmer Lee leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, In-laws: (Maria, Ray, Joey, Glen, Aubrey, Nathan, Joe, Mike, Chelsea, Tim, Casey, Brandon, Mark, Lawrence and Ray), a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Service for Elmer Lee will be held, Sunday January 15, 2017; 1:30 pm at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1002 Church Ave., Cleveland Texas 77327. Interment will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Gardens.
