Elva Lavern Willis Elva Lavern Willis, born April 12, 1935, crossed peacefully to her eternal home on July 5, 2012 to begin her celebration of victory over death. She was welcomed home by many friends and family members that had already made the journey before her. With her loved ones by her side here on earth, she surely welcomed with relief the Lord's homecoming call as she left this world. "Good-bye world, good-bye!" Waiting to welcome her home are her husband of 53 years, Bobby Willis, precious daughter Cheryl Mingus, loving parents Marshall and Ella Mae, her only brother Clifford M. Hall, and her baby sister Eloise Hall. Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons: Scott Willis and wife Teresa of Tarkington, Mark Willis and wife Kim of Tarkington, Joe Willis and wife Amber of Cedar Park; daughter: Jennifer Gulledge and husband Shane of Tarkington; son-in-law: Ted Mingus; sister: Wanda McNeil and husband Ralph of Tarkington; grandchildren: Ben Mingus, Ashleigh, Caleb, MaryAnna, and Madison Willis, Marci Chadwell and husband James, Jessica, Adam, Nickolas, John, and Marshall Willis, Bradley, Daniel, and Malia Willis; Lane, Landry, and Sydni Gulledge; great-grandchild: Olivia Mingus; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends. At the age of 10, Elva accepted Christ as her savior and faithfully sought his will in her life for the many years to follow. Elva was a devoted wife and mother and a doting grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. She was a dedicated school teacher for many years and a faithful Sunday-school teacher for even longer. She loved to play the piano, sing, shop, read her bible, write stories, devotionals, poetry, and care for her grandchildren. She also loved working with her flowers and plants. She was known for her wit and her dry-sense of humor that at times made her laugh at even herself. Her "throw-your-head-back and burst out laughing" cackle could lighten any room. She mostly will be remembered by her family for her selfless giving and her endless prayers that have covered our family for ages. Her family says they look forward to the day that they meet again and see her jeweled crown that she will no doubt have and are FINALLY introduced to her guardian angel! Until we meet again, Mom...
