Geroline Carter Wood

Geroline "Gerry" Carter Wood, age 96, died peacefully, Friday, March 14, 2025 at her home in Spring, Texas.

She is survived by two nieces, Connie Darlene Ede and husband Jim, and Sandra Jean Perryman and husband Tom; grandnephew, Stephen Hazen and Betsy Fuqua; great-grandnephew, Carter Hazen and great-grandniece, Vivian Hazen;  step-grandniece, Jamie Ede; along with many relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bedford "Buck" Wood; her parents, Lester and Ollie Carter;  her brother and sister-n-law, David and Lennie Carter, and great- grandniece, Audrey Hazen.

Gerry was born on the home place in Tarkington Prairie on April 12, 1928.  She graduated from Tarkington High School and went directly to Houston to begin her career as a teletype operator (later a computer operator), working first at Western Union, then moving to Southern Pacific (Union Pacific), from which she retired.

Her retirement years included traveling, reading, line dancing and working on her property in Tarkington.  She enjoyed her dogs, cats, and flowers.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the loving caregivers, Heavenly Helper and Visiting Angels for assisting Gerry in her wish to live at home.

Visitation will be held from 1:00PM to 1:30PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Neal Funeral Home, 200 S. Washington Ave., Cleveland, Texas. Services to follow and graveside services at Ryan Cemetery, Tarkington, Texas, at 2:00PM.
