Janice Mae Mize

Janice Mae Mize, a beloved figure in the Cleveland, Texas community, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on April 14, 1944, in Cleveland, she dedicated her life to serving others, primarily through her career in the health care industry as a personal caregiver. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on numerous lives.

Janice was often remembered for her warm personality, exuding joy and kindness to those around her. She was described as "a barrel of fun," delighting in moments that brought laughter and joy. Among her cherished memories were fond recollections of making peanut brittle and strawberry bread, treats she gladly shared with friends and family. Her love for playing Bingo was a testament to her spirited and lively nature.

She was a faithful servant to the LORD. She was deeply involved in her community and church activities, proudly participating in the Card Ministry for the sick and those unable to attend services. Additionally, she was a member of the Singles Ministry, where she found comfort and companionship.  She loved her family and friends. 

Janice leaves behind a loving family, including her children: Barbara Vick and her husband Dennis, Angelia Hales and her husband Frank, Kristi Clark, and Chad Mize. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Shelee Whitmire and her husband Buddy, Lagenda Wortham and her husband Hank, Jericka Martinez and her husband Jose, Dylan Mize, Cameron Mize, and Chelsey Mize. She cherished her role as a great-grandmother, providing warmth and love to Tanna Wortham, Gelynn Wortham, Samuel Wortham, Seth Wortham, Paisleigh Smith, Natalie Martinez, Naomi Martinez, Nathan Martinez, Jocelynn Sutton, Jayleigh Sutton, Jameson Sutton, Kylie Whitmire, Gavin Tadlock, and Dakota Mize.

Janice is also survived by her lifetime friend and family member, Shirley Loftin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and a host of friends. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Jan Ginn for the loving care provided to Janice during her later years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elbert Jackson Keith and Mae Watson Keith, and her siblings: sisters Shirley Moffett, Esther Ruth Arriola, Loretta Faith Watson, Juanita Kellum, Wanda Lee, Hazel O'Bryan, and Adele Williams, along with brothers E.J. Keith, Wayne Keith, and Troy Keith.

Visitation will be held on March 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Neal Funeral Home, 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, TX 77327, followed by a funeral service starting at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the same location.  Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Cemetery, HWY 787/Easy St., Cleveland, Texas.

Janice Mae Mize’s spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of everyone she touched, and her legacy of love and care will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
