Jerry Wayne Everitt

Jerry Wayne Everitt, of Shepherd, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior, August 22, 2018, at the age of 69. He was born September 16, 1948 in Cleveland, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rodney Murl and Voila Ellisor Everitt and parents, Collis Bruce Everitt and Alice Ruth Hopper Everitt.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlene Ballard Everitt, sister Virginia Hopson; brothers, George Everitt and his wife Gayla, Danny Everitt and his wife Sandy; son, Heath Moore; daughter, Faith Everitt Cottrell and her husband David; daughters-in-law, in love, Patricia Smith and her husband Mark, Rachel Perry and her husband James; grandchildren, Robert Kaleb Moore and his wife Rachel, Dionna Marie Moore Saravia and her husband Brian, Thomas Chance Perry, Tara Cheyenne Perry Gabbard and her husband Ryan, Allison Claire Perry, Lillie Anne Perry; great grandchildren, Aiden Wade Moore, Hudson Wayne Moore and baby to be Gabbard; mother-in-law Gladys Everitt.
Jerry loved helping people and giving back to the community. He coached Little League, both boys and girls. His teams went to State several years. He worked and sold cars at Cessna Motors in Cleveland and made lots of friends. He served as San Jacinto County Constable from July 1996 until December 2008. During his term in office he was instrumental in getting the first full time Peace officer for the City of Shepherd and Shepherd Independent School District. Then when his time as Constable came to an end he served as Captain of the San Jacinto County Sheriff Department under County Sheriff James Walters. He also served as a Reserve officer for Trinity Police department. He loved fox hunting, running his hounds and trading stories with his fox hunting buddies.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2018 at Neal Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Neal Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.
