John Wayne Smith, 53, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in Kingwood. He was born on Monday, December 21, 1959 in Lafayette, Louisiana to James John Smith and Velma (McClendon) Smith, John was preceded in death by his father, James John Smith, brother, Roy Clem Smith, sisters, Mary Agnes Smith, Betty Joyce Davis; Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Mary Smith; mother Velma Smith; children, Jonathan Smith, Alex Crocker and wife Ashley, Amanda Calhoun and husband Eric, Kimberly Speed, Jacob Watson and Jeremy Partridge; brothers, John Roy Smith and wife Margie; sisters, Margaret Gatling and husband Charles, Alice Mills and husband Bobby, Gloria Reynolds; grandchildren, Brandon Speed Jr., Alyssa Faith Calhoun, Skylar Jace Calhoun, Numerous other loving family and treasured friends. Visitation for John will be held at Neal Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services for John will be held in the Neal Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Burial for John will immediately follow at Morgan Cemetery, officiating, Bishop Ken Smith.
