Johnny Albert Wheeler, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away on September 11, 2024, at the age of 74. Born in Hebert, LA, on August 12, 1950, Johnny filled his days with laughter, love, and a genuine warmth that touched everyone he met. His infectious, deep laugh was a hallmark of his personality, and it echoed in the hearts of all who knew him.

Johnny was married to his devoted wife, Judy Wheeler, for 17 wonderful years. Together, they created a loving home filled with joy and support. Johnny was a proud father to his children: Shawn Tanner and his wife Lesha, Shane Poor, Rachel Smith, and Zack Smith. He found immense pride and joy in his family, including numerous loving grandchildren, Jackson, Joshua, Kennedy, Josh Leeder, Kinsey, and Nadia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished loved ones. In addition to his loving family, he is also survived by his best friend and partner in crime, Sammy Cobb. Over the years, Johnny and Sammy were together through it all - good, bad, and ugly. Johnny's life was that much richer with such a treasured friend by his side. He was not just a father, but a role model whose kindness and willingness to help others will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.

Johnny shared a special bond with his siblings, who include brothers Donald Wheeler and his wife Susie, and Larry Wheeler and his wife Sandy, as well as sisters Juanita Castleberry and her husband James, Iona Sproles and her husband James, Peggy Dannehl and her husband Larry, and Mary Jane Goodman and her husband Tim. Each of them knows the love and respect he cultivated through the years, a testament to his character and heart.

In the fabric of his life, Johnny wove many interests and hobbies that brought him joy. An avid lover of woodworking, he often spent his time creating beautiful pieces from raw materials. He relished the thrill of hunting, the serenity of bass fishing, and the satisfaction gardening brought him. His tinkering with small motors illustrated his inventive spirit and hands-on approach to life. Johnny was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Though Johnny now rests in peace, he leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and commitment to helping others. He was well-loved and respected by his co-workers, who mirrored the warmth he shared with his friends and family. Johnny’s passion for people made him a cherished member of his community, and many will remember his selfless nature.

Johnny is preceded in death by his father, AC Wheeler Jr., his mother, Macey Allen Weatherford; his brother, William Wheeler; and his son, Jay Wheeler. Their memories remain alive in the hearts of those who hold them dear.
