Judith Carolyn Cox, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, entered into eternal rest on April 5, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on Thursday, January 25, 1945, in Port Arthur, Texas, Judith lived a vibrant life filled with love, faith, and joy. She was a faithful servant to the Lord, embodying compassion and kindness throughout her life journey.
Judith found immense joy in music and dance, with a particular passion for tap dancing. Her love for cooking and her fondness for Hallmark movies brightened the lives of all who knew her. Christmas was a special time for Judith, as she cherished the spirit of the season and the moments spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Judith loved watching the Houston Astros and golfing on television. She also enjoyed watching soap operas, especially "The Days of Our Lives," which brought her countless hours of entertainment.
Judith is survived by her loving children, Douglas Cox, Joey Cox and husband Ross Walker, and Jennifer Cox and Michael Rodgers. She cherished her role as a sister, being deeply loved by her brother, Joe Watts and wife Betty, and her sister, Julie Kimball. Her grandchildren adored her greatly, including Abby Stephens and husband Matthew, Derek Cox, Chrissy Cortes and Rob Powell, Ryan Cox and wife Lavonn, Cameron Sykes and wife Kelcie, Jarrod Walker and wife Kylie, Braeden Walker, Tristian Cox, and Chance Cox. Judith also proudly embraced her role as a great-grandmother to Ashton Newsome, Lexi Cox, Gray Cox, Mason Stephens, Madden Stephens, Addy Cortes, Brynlee Cortes, Blakely Walker, Robyn Powell, Kolson Sykes, JC Sykes, Beckett Walker, and Piper Cox. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, other loving family members, and a host of treasured friends who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Douglas Cox, whose memory she cherished, as well as her parents, Bryan Joseph Watts and Helen Virginia Watts; her grandson, Jaylen Sykes; and her daughter-in-law, Glenda Cox. Judith will always be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the unconditional love she bestowed upon her family and friends. The impact she made in their lives will forever be felt.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery in Coldspring, Texas, beginning at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather as they honor Judith's beautiful life and legacy.
