Leonard Eugene Jernigen

Leonard Eugene Jernigen was born October 26, 1926 in Indianola, Oklahoma to Dee and Rosa Gertrude. Bishop Jernigen, went to his Eternal Home on November 11, 2015 in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 89. He worked for many years as a Longshoreman and for I.L.A Local#24. Leonard was a long time member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his grandson, Zachary Hales. Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 66 years in life and forever in eternity, Mary Elizabeth Jernigen of Splendora, Texas; children: Roy Eugene Jernigen and wife Dianne of Splendora, Texas, Karen Elaine Handshoe and husband Glee of Onalaska, Texas, Gerald Edward Jernigen and wife Carla of Splendora, Texas, Jane Elizabeth Phillips and husband Curtis of Porter, Texas and Rosemary E. Jernigen of Splendora, Texas; sister, Rose Marie Grant and husband Joe of Hockley, Texas; grandchildren, Tiffany Bailey and husband Danny, Scott Jernigen and wife Becky, Tim Jernigen and wife Cindy, Kory Bowling, Stephen Bowling, Kordel Bowling, Danielle Wiseman and husband John, Jared Jernigen and wife Reesa, Tyler Rachal, Taylor Rachal, Autumn Rachal and Justin Jordan; great grandchildren, Savannah, Kevin, Jackson, Dylan, Kameron, Kimberly, Tanner, John, Adalyn, Fennix, Detric, Daniel, Krister, Gracie, Chloe, Connor and Liam; nieces, Barbara Ann and Sandra Kay; nephew, Lynn. Visitation will be at Neal Funeral Home on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral Service will be in the Neal Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11:00 am with Bishop Ken Shannon and Danny Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Splendora City Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
