Martha Velazquez Baker, a dedicated servant of the Lord and a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on October 15, 2024, at 70. Born on February 1, 1954, in Puerto Padre, Cuba, Martha embraced life with a warm heart and an unwavering spirit.
Martha's love for her family was immeasurable. She raised her children with the utmost care and affection, encapsulating the essence of selflessness in every action. A proud mother, she found boundless joy in spoiling her children, shaping their lives with lessons of love and perseverance. Her legacy of warmth and compassion continues through her beloved husband of 45 years, William Baker, and her cherished children—Armando Navarro, Christopher Baker and wife Jennifer, Matthew Baker and wife Michelle, Angelica Baker and boyfriend Zachary Emmons, Christina Baker, Alexa Baker, Emma Baker, Rebecca Godden, and Stephanie Sharpe.
Martha was also a proud grandmother to her beautiful grandchildren: Brian Navarro and wife Demetrice, Bradley Navarro and wife Mikayla, Trinity Ehrlich, Liam Baker, Lane Baker, Lila Sanders, Aurora Sanders, Jacob Sanders, Zachary Emmons, Oliver Emmons, Milo Emmons, Misael Hernandez Jr., Eliana Hernandez, Gabriel Edwards, Amber Edwards, Cameron Navarro, Neriah Navarro, Molly Godden, Tiana Heaggs, and Edderius Heaggs Jr.. Each of them carries a piece of her vibrant spirit within them, and they will forever treasure the moments spent by her side. In addition to her immediate family, Martha is survived by her loving brother, George Velazquez and wife Connie, her dear aunt, Angie Gonzalez, and countless relatives and friends who cherish the memories shared with her.
Martha was known not only for her devotion to family but also for her many passions. She had a formidable collection of porcelain dolls, reflecting her artistic eye and appreciation for beauty. She enjoyed the uplifting melodies of The Beatles and often lost herself in the heartwarming narratives presented by Hallmark movies. An amazing cook, Martha’s spaghetti dish won the church cook-off, a testament to her culinary talents. As a lover of animals, Martha had an innate kindness that extended beyond her family; she embraced all living creatures with compassion and care. Her selflessness and unwavering faith touched many lives, serving as an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Martha Velazquez Baker left this earth to join her parents, Ramon Velazquez and Neria Gonzalez, and her beloved grandparents, Ramona Perez and Ramon Velazquez, in eternal peace. While her physical presence is no longer among us, her spirit endures in the hearts of those she loved and nurtured throughout her life. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we find solace in the rich memories she crafted with her family and friends, forever illuminating our paths with her love.
A memorial service in honor of Martha's memory will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cleveland, TX on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The service will begin at 12:00 PM.
