Oliver Gabriel Fontenot was born February 6, 1942 in Eunice, Louisiana to Gabriel Fontenot and Cyril Reed Fontenot, and passed away in Cypress, Texas January 17, 2020 at the age of 77. He move to Texas in his early 20’s and after trying a few different job opportunities he landed a position at Union Carbide where he worked for 18 years. Union Carbide moved their offices to South Carolina forcing Oliver to seek out employment at Hermann Hospital in the engineering department. Oliver and Greg worked together a few years at Hermann before starting a Home Remodeling Business together. G.D.Hartley Remodeling just passed its 35th year anniversary January 15th of this year. Oliver retired at 65 and formed Oliver’s Horse Farm in Dayton, Texas before moving his farm to Cleveland, Texas.
Oliver was preceded in deaths by his parents, infant brother and infant sister. He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth Fontenot of Palm Springs, California and Mark Fontenot of Cleveland, Texas; business partner and best friend, Greg Hartley and Family, his only surviving Aunt Delrean, with Pat, Judy, Michael, Kitty to top a long list of wonderful cousins and their families, plus all the special friends he made on his path.
Funeral Service were held Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas at 1pm. Burial was at the St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice, Louisiana on Saturday 25, 2020 at 1pm.
