Paul Myron Bowers, 92, of Cleveland, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
He was born on May 5, 1930, in the Methodist Parsonage in Vienna, OH to Clarence Huett
Bowers and Mary Bowers, both of whom preceded him in death. Paul was also preceded in
death by his sister, Mary Helen Bowers; son, Wm. Stephen Carpenter; grandson, Joseph
Paul Meziere; granddaughters Mia Christie and Lisa Stockton.
His wife, Lucille, followed him in death five weeks later on January 11, 2023. Left to cherish
his memory are his daughters, Mary Lee Bowers Wyatt, Mary Beth Morris, and husband
(Bill); sons, Paul Michael Byars and wife (Glenda), Wayne Carpenter and wife (Loretta),
Jerry L. Carpenter and wife (Diane); brother, Clarence L. Bowers; along with numerous
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and other loving family
and treasured friends.
Paul graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He was trained as a teacher but
having come from a long line of ministers, felt the calling to attend Garrett Biblical Institute
seminary on the campus of Northwestern University. He had several careers during his
years in Houston including as a general contractor, teacher at HISD and U.S. Postal
Service employee. In the seventies Paul and Lucille moved to Cleveland, TX. Paul
returned to teaching and became an associate pastor at Liberty Christian Fellowship. He
was always there for anyone in need – spiritually or with tools for a household repair or a
ride to a doctor’s appointment. He and Lucille were not only affectionally known to their
grandchildren as Deda and Memaw, but by the entire Liberty Christian fellowship as well.
A memorial service for Paul and Lucille will be held at Liberty Church, 200 FM 2025,
Cleveland, TX 77328, on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 12.00 PM
