Richard Meehan, 76, entered the gates of heaven on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Born on October 3, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to John James and Marion Theresa Kendsar Meehan. Richard proudly served as an Army scout dog handler during the Vietnam War, earning a Bronze Star for his bravery. Richard's kindness compelled him to offer assistance to others. He dedicated many years as a child advocate at Child Protective Services, striving to protect and support children in need. Richard was a man of many passions, but none burned as brightly as his love for reading and physics. From the pages of classic literature to the intricacies of theoretical physics, he found solace, inspiration, and endless fascination.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, James Hatten. He leaves behind his former spouse, Letitia Jane Meehan; his children, Richard Patrick Meehan (Lauren), Melissa Jane Polomsky (Patrick), and Mary Kathryn Bolton (Ray); sisters Joyce Hamilton (Maurice) and Theresa Hatten; grandchildren Alexia, Jack, Benjamin, and Lillian; along with many other loving family members and treasured friends. Richard's legacy of compassion, courage, and curiosity will forever be remembered by those who loved him.
A graveside service will be held for Richard on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 11:15 AM at the Houston National Cemetery.
