Susan Casarez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Entered the gates of Heaven on July 19, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on January 24, 1935, in Houston, TX, to her parents Jose Manuel Meza and Maria Cleofas Alvarado.
Susan's secretary skills came to her at an early age. At the age of eight or nine years old, she would write letters for the parents of servicemen and was paid 25 cents for each letter she wrote. She had excellent penmanship. Susan would help in her father's garage with her brother Richard, while her other brothers served in the war. At 16 years old, Susan would drive her mother to the farmer's market to pick up fresh produce for their restaurant. She attended St. Agnes Academy and enjoyed her Latin Class the most. Susan enjoyed sports as well in high school. She would also be known as the neighborhood Tax Preparer growing up.
Later in life, Susan would become the Administrative Secretary for the Director of Nursing in Conroe, TX. She was also the Activity Director for the Senior Friends Group in Conroe. Susan was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Mary's, Senior Friends Group out of Conroe. Susan enjoyed Mardi Gras, casinos, feeding the birds; and owls, which she considered to be the protectors of her family. Susan also enjoyed writing poems for her children. One of the poems she wrote was titled "The Owl's Place".
Susan's love for her family knew no bounds, and she dedicated her life to caring for and nurturing her loved ones. Her gentle spirit and kind heart touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her loving children, Patrick Casarez and wife Shirley, Diane Adkison, James Casarez and wife Eva, Elaine Farrar, JoAnn Casarez, Carla Cole, Tina Price and husband Jesse, and Perry Casarez and wife Asheley. She leaves behind a legacy through her 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Susan is preceded in death by her husband, Calixto Casarez; and her parents, Jose Manuel Meza and Maria Cleofas Alvarado, along with her four sisters, and her four brothers.
A Memorial Service to honor Susan's life will be held on July 27, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 702 E Houston St. Cleveland, TX 77327. A rosary will be held at 10:00 AM and a Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 AM.
Susan's presence brought warmth and joy to all those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace knowing that she was cherished beyond measure.
