Susan Ross Goodrum

Susan Ross Goodrum went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was born on Saturday, November 23, 1963 in Miami Florida.
Susan fought a courageous fight with small cell ovarian cancer for the last 15 years. She was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her parents, Eris R. Ross, Jr. of Adel, Georgia and Judith Irwin of Chesapeake City, Maryland; brothers, John L. Ross, Sr. of Unionville, PA, Andrew E. Ross of Spring,Texas. She had two beautiful children, Danielle Goodrum Whitmire of Cleveland, Texas and Derek Goodrum of Conroe, TX. Susan had 5 grandchildren, Logan, Lexi, Ava, Lane and Colt.
Susan lived in Glenmore, Pa until 1978 where she was an outstanding horseman and showed successfully in dressage and cross country. Her favorite horse was Snicker. With her family she moved to Splendora, TX. and graduated in 1981. She was an outstanding student and athlete, participating in track and field as well as "Powder Puff" football.
Susan loved animals and she worked for 15 years at the New Caney Animal Hospital for Dr. Gary Wilson as a Vet Tech and Office Manager. She also worked for other vet clinics in the area.
Susan lived in Splendora from 1978 to 2016 and amassed friends from all over the world; as late as April of this year she spent 7 days in South Africa with her brother John on a hunting safari.
Susan's pallbearers are Ronnie Shay, Melody Walker Bass, Jeannie Garrison, Shea Bookout, Brenda Ward Cates and Jamie Bell. Honorary pallbearers are, John Ross, Jr., Jacob Ross, Doug Hamilton, Tim Hamilton and Donald Burton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 05, 2016 at Neal Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be on Saturday, August 06, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Ryan Cemetery in Dayton, Texas. Officiating, Reverend George Hayden.
