Valerie Marie Davidson Ward, affectionately known as "Sissy," passed away on November 12, 2024, just a few days shy of her 62 birthday. Born on November 16, 1962, Valerie's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with faith, love, and familial connections.
Valerie was a devoted wife to her husband, Hubert Ward, with whom she shared 23 cherished years of marriage. Together, they had a loving family, which includes their sons, Wade Ward and his wife Mary Jane, and Josh Ward; and her step-daughter, Cheryl Stanley. Valerie was also a warm presence whose love extended to her brother, Hiram Davidson III, her numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. She embraced each of them with open arms and an open heart.
Her passion for the great outdoors was evident in her love for fishing, where she found tranquility and joy. But the warmth of her spirit shone brightest in her home, where she was known for her outstanding culinary skills. Friends and family alike were treated to her delicious cooking, a reflection of the care she took in every aspect of her life.
Valerie’s heart belonged not only to her human family but also to her beloved dogs, whom she cherished as if they were her children, and to her dear cockatoos, which brought her immense joy. She embodied genuine love for all living things, serving faithfully to her family and the Lord, and guiding those around her with her unwavering faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hiram Valentine Davidson Jr. and Margaret Rose Elliott Hill; her step-father, Joe Hill; her brothers, George Davidson, Wesley Hill, Thomas Davidson, and William Davidson; and her step-daughter, Rita Ozment. Their memories will forever be woven into the fabric of her legacy.
Visitation will be held at Neal Funeral Home located at 200 South Washington Avenue, Cleveland, TX 77327, on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow the next morning Saturday, November 16, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery.
Valerie Marie Ward leaves behind not just a family, but a legacy of love, faith, and cherished moments that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know her. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, reminders of the warmth she brought to the world.
