Velma "Tibby" Burke

Velma "Tibby" Burke, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the age of 99. She was born on Sunday, November 9, 1924, in Orange, Texas, to Robert Guillot and Alia Guillot, both of whom preceded her in death. Velma was also preceded in death by her husband, Marlin A. Burke; son-in-law, James Louis; and sister, Pearl Lenz. Velma was a faithful servant to her Lord, she was very artistic, and she loved to sew, and arrange flowers. She loved her family and loved to cook and bake for them. Velma loved to shop and to work in her yard. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sheila Louis and Loretta Hightower and husband Lewis; son, Marlin W. "Bubba" Burke; brothers, Marshall Guillot and wife Judy, Richard Guillot and wife Pat; eleven grandchildren, Michelle Chapman and husband Johnny, Kellie Gomez and husband Troy, Shannon Hamic and wife Stacie, Kevin Louis, Jennifer Anthony and husband Doc, Andy Hightower and wife Leslie, Harley Burke, Caine Burke and wife Amanda, Marva McCormick, Bobby McCormick, Mark Trahan; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family members, and a host of friends. A graveside service will be held for Velma at Ryan Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2024.
