Velma Sue Smith, 59, of New Waverly, Texas passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 in Splendora, Texas. She was born on Thursday, November 22, 1956 in Houston, Texas to Earl M Griffith and Velma West Griffith. Velma was preceded in death by her father, Earl M Griffith, sister, Shelia Griffith, grandson, Christopher Norman. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Johnny Smith; mother, Velma Griffith; daughters, Sheila Wiggins and husband Dewayne, Crystal Brown and Tina Hardy, Lisa Perry, Elizabeth Hewett; sons, Vernon Hewett, Mark Hewett, Timothy Hewett, Norman Smith; brothers, James Stacey and wife Brenda, Edward Griffith and wife Marty, Donald Griffith and wife Debbie; sisters, Anna Jackson and husband Stanley, Elnoria Hicks; along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends. The family will receive family and friends for Velma on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 7 pm - 9 pm at Neal Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at Neal Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Hawthorne Cemetery. Rev Jason Pennington officiating.
