Vivian Ruth Moore born September 24, 1928, in Terrell, Texas to Otto Ardell Maxwell and Docia Drucilla (Bessie) Doss returned home on February 19, 2015.
Ruth graduated from Reagan County High School and began her work career in Big Lake. It was there that she met and married J.D. Moore. They moved to Chicago for a few years and then returned to Midland, Texas where she went to work for Midland County. She retired as a Deputy County Clerk in 1996.
Ruth never had children, so she became the surrogate mother of her nieces and nephews. She became especially close to her niece, Drucilla Shrode. She enjoyed spending holidays with Drucilla and her family.
Besides family, Ruth enjoyed spending time with friends at Green's, Bingo, and going to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed playing 42 and dancing. She was member of St. Mark's Methodist Church for over 40 years.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Cecil Maxwell of Big Lake, Otto Maxwell of Big Lake, Archie Maxwell of Houston; her sisters: Clara Robertson of Leander, Gloriadell Brown of Midland, her niece, Donna Cantrell of Conroe and nephew, Malcolm Robertson of Horseshoe Bay.
She is survived by her nephews: Keith Maxwell and wife, Helen, of California, Joe Cantrell of Conroe, Pete O'Briant and wife, Sondra, of Tennessee, Jimmy Maxwell and wife, Betsy, of Utah, Chuck Wright of Austin; nieces: Drucilla Shrode and husband, Dave, of Humble, Gloria Sharp and husband, William, of Liberty Hill, Margaret Robertson of Horseshoe Bay, Carolyn Marek and husband, Tom, of Round Rock, Lou Beth Williams and husband, Charlie, of Maryland, Charla Henney and husband, Lee, of Arizona, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her brother-in-law, Billy Moore and wife, Helen, and her aunt, Eva Doyle.
In her final days here on earth, she was cared for lovingly by hospice nurses and the care givers at Total Loving Care in New Caney. Her family is grateful for the care she received.
Visitation with Ruth's family will be held at Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland on March 1, 2015, from 12-2 p.m. Her service will begin at 2 with burial at Brookside Cemetery in Houston at 4 p.m.
Memorial services for Ruth will be held at St. Mark's Methodist Church in Midland on March 8, 2015, at 2 p.m. followed by fellowship.
