William Oscar "Bill" Brower Sr

William Oscar "Bill" Brower, Sr., age 71 passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Romayor, Texas. Bill was born on October 20, 1941 to Ethel Kramer Brower and Thomas Johnson Brower. Preceded in death are sisters Edith Brower Tantarelli and Kay Brower Crall, and brothers, Thomas Johnson Brower and Matthew Earl "Mo" Brower. Bill is survived by his former spouse of 36 years, Neva (Gold) Brower, and his children Carla Brower Trice, William O. Brower, Jr. and wife Laura Reed Brower, Sheri Ann Brower, and Timothy Alan Brower and wife Patricia Paul. Grandchildren include Edward "Trey" Kincade, Travis Chappell, Brandon Brower, and Justin Kubenka. Bill had many special nieces and nephews who meant the world to him, including Tally Herman Matthews, Kelly Herman, Jimmy Herman, Joseph Tantarrelli, Chris Tantarrelli Mailey, Karen Brower Hunt, Tommy Brower, Penny Brower Porta, and the Cralls. Also considered very special to Bill were his sister-in-law, Donna Gold Herman, and "honorary" Brower family members, Guy Kerchner, and his wife, Wendy Dubois Kerchner, and their children, Kody, Casey and Levi Kerchner (Levi's twin sister, Love, preceded Mr. Brower in death). Bill was a 1959 graduate of Dennison High School in Dennison, Ohio, and he served in the United States Navy. His career included work with Warner and Swasey at their Gradall plant in New Philadelphia, Ohio, and later as a Field Representative for the company, before moving on to Zapata Offshore Oil Company where he spent the bulk of his career as a Manager of Maintenance traveling throughout the world. Bill's retirement adventures (and ventures) included a bar and grill, Larry's Place, offshore drilling consulting, and various real estate projects. Bill had a love for reading, museums and road trips, and he will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. He was an avid practical joker, and entertained many over the years with his stories and sailor songs. He told many tales of his travels throughout the world and Louisiana. He was a member of the Romayor, Texas VFW and the Opelousas, Louisiana Elks Lodge. He also enjoyed his status as an "honorary Cajun" in the Texas/Louisiana Fishing Rodeo organization. Pallbearers will include Brandon Brower, Travis Chappell, Guy Kerchner, Kody Kerchner, Edward "Trey" Kincade, and Justin Kubenka. Honorary pallbearers are Dan Becker, "Mr. Lee", Ivan Ray, and Larry Williams.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas. Service will be on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Neal Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Rye, Texas.
