William "Bill" Bates Hickman, Jr., 89, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Cleveland, TX .
Bill was born Saturday, November 18, 1922, in Scott, MS to William Bates Hickman Sr. and Effie Fay (Turpen) Hickman. He retired from Houston Metro after 33 years of service. William served his country in World War II and was in the battle of Guadacanal, where he received a purple heart. He was a member of the local VFW and DAV.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Also preceding him in death is his sister Geraldine.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years Mary Ann Hickman; son William Russell "Rusty" Hickman of Port Neches, TX; daughter Sherri Lynn Moore of Houston, TX; brother Sidney N. Hickman of Splendora, TX;
Visitation for Bill will be held Tuesday,October 16, 2012 at 10:00 am at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral Service will commence at 11 am. Interment to follow in the Pace Stancil Memorial Rest Garden. Officiating is Mr. Rob Davis. All services were handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.
